The Skagen Vandtarn or Water Tower
The Skagen Vandtarn is an ancient water tower building that offers a panoramic view of the town and surroundings from the top.
The Skagen Vandtarn (or Water Tower) is located at the center of the town. It was originally constructed in the early 20th century around 1930. It is an imposing red brick structure with a height of 34 meters. As per official records, 130,000 bricks were used to build the tower and it could hold about 150,000 liters of water. The Skagen Vandtarn was in functional use till as recently as 1983. The water tower now serves as a watch tower. The view from the top is absolutely breathtaking and do not miss it on any account.
Access to Skagen Water Tower
The Skagen Vandtarn is easily accessible from different parts of the town. In fact, there are several hotels available in the Vandtarn area. You need luck on your side to visit the Skagen Vandtarn. The structure is open to public only between April 1st – May 31st and from September 16th – October 31st. It is closed the rest of the year. The Skagen Vandtarn is open only on weekends between 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
